Update: Goodbye 2009.

Two weeks at home is hardly enough time to just let loose and relax. I already am packing up to leave at 4 AM on January 1st to make the 12 hour drive back to good ol' Rexburg. I'm sort of dreading going back to school for a couple reasons; mainly because I don't want to take chem 105. However, the more I think about it, the more excited I get. I love to learn. It takes a lot of will power to get me to focus on it, but once I undestand what I'm actually studying, I love being able to broaden my mind and have even more in common with society. Plus, Whitney and I are going to destroy campus one day or another. I get to see a close friend plan her eternal marriage, too. OH how I LOVE weddings.

On Christmas Day I was able to talk to Deej. He's been serving for 16 months already down in southern Utah. I am so proud of him, and it seems like we just become closer after all this time. Don't get me wrong, I never receive letters from this kid, but I know he's alive. Plus, I get to hear from him at his family's home in May and then 3 months later he's home on the river again. I really take it for granted how blessed I am to have someone like him watch over me and be such a close friend. To his future wife: You best treat him like he deserves. I know he'll give you his world, but you better give him yours too, and be happy about it. He deserves the best. And yes, this is a threat. I will find you.

Anyway, Christmas was very enjoyable! Nice and small with just my family and then later that night we had a group of close friends join us for dinner. These entire two weeks home, I don't think I've touched a fruit. Everything is sugary goodness and I'm surprised I haven't gained any extra weight (knock on wood!).

Exciting news!!!!! .... are you ready?

....

I HEARD FROM ELDER BUTTLE!!!
Finally. That boy.

He's doing excellent in the MTC! He already has been there for two weeks! At first, it was so painfully slow that my heart was being torn out very, very slowly. I know two weeks is nothing compared to two years, but hey, I'm trying to be optomistic. Like when I was reading his several letters hoem to me, I thought to myself "this is a lot of fun!" All this is is a new adventure for us. His letters are ALL over the place and it really requires a lot of focus to understand them. The stories have be literally laughing out loud to where my mom has started laughing with me. SO get this; "12 days of Christmas", MTC style. Just sing the song to yourself, but substitute the following for the 12 days:

1- Rock Solid Testimony
2- Haircuts Free
3- New Companions
4- Chocolate Milks
5- Hours of Gym
6- 6:30 Wake-Up
7- Lukewarm Showers
8- Hours of Rest
9- Outbound Calls (refering to the referal center)
10- More Commandments
11- Loads of Laundry
12- Hours of Class

Casey was in group #4. They divided into 11 different groups with all of them singing one of the groups. Imagine the entire MTC belting this. I am slightly envious. I want to have fun like this! Hey Rexburgians... you think we can belt out in song more often?

Another story he shared with me was how he met Elizabeth Smart. Does anyone know who she is?

I didn't either. So before I tell you, she is now in the MTC about to serve in Paris for 18 months; Casey spoke with her.

At 14 years of old, she was kidnapped from her home and held hostage for 9 months. If you want details, Google her. It's an incredible story. What a testimony she must have. Seriously. Go look her up. Now.

My next step is to send E. B. pictures of my winter break. Don't worry, Case, they're coming!!

Hopefully soon to come, pictures from our adventure that we are going to take tomorrow. Boating on New Years Eve? We'll see. The dang snow sort of foiled our plans. By the way, I am stick and tired of snow. Why did you have to snow the day after I washed the car? Oh Oregon. You're beautiful, but frustrating.
